Throughout the build process most things can be altered. For example, in this final picture we decided to not have the wood top waterfall off the sides. This modification was easy, and once a new 3d model was generated it helped ease the decision in the change. We were able to allocate that material towards other finishing luxuries, such as a pop-up power outlet.

HERE WE MASTER THE ART OF DECEPTION

In this picture I am concealing 6 separate IKEA bookcases and mounting them in place for the built-in grand stance. The idea here is maximizing the wall space with cost effective furniture. Using premium choice woods to frame the unit, making it look like one solid piece. In doing this, you cut the cost down by over half. What most people don’t realized is most store-bought furniture isn’t solid wood, it’s just a composite with thin wood veneer or lamination. I am a big fan of IKEA, as they use solid pine to construct their products, so when this is all said in done, it truly is a showstopper.

FURNITURE MODIFICATION

Great incentive in doing this, the install time can be done in less than a week. Since 80% of the furniture is prefab, all that needs to be done is assembly. Then that sweet 20% is what gets customized to perfect fitment. In this build, the carpet was cut away and the cabinets were leveled to the concrete floor. The original baseboard was also removed and re-installed in front to give a seamless look with the room. There will be a full video showcasing this, click here to watch.
